  1. I don’t know if I can help. I hear it is very hard to get published by the ‘professionals.’ and that if you do get published, they take MOST of the profit (unless you’re someone ‘famous’ who has the power to negotiate. I personally know a local writer who found a publisher and got published and whose book sold like crazy on Amazon and she was on the Bestselling Amazon list. She never saw a penny. When she sued, the publishers filed for bankruptcy and she hasn’t seen a penny of what her book earned. Due to this, and other stories about how much the publishers keep (most of it), how easy it is to self publish (though you have to watch for book thief’s who steal your book and publish it themselves when it is an e-book/kindle –easy to steal–so you constantly have to monitor and google your books/site etc.)) -if you self publish you keep nearly100% of the profits…
Rightfully, professional publisher’s complain about how poorly edited self published independent books are edited. It would be well worth your money to get a professional editor, are a really good writer friend to go over it with a fine tooth comb.
I read an article written by professional publishers who complained about all the independent published books and what poor quality they were- with misspellings etc.
the I read the hundreds of comments after the articles, by independently published authors who laughed the these guys, and said they made a good living through their independent books, paid for a vacation through a self pubiished book, had steady income, and how it was a simple procedure.
I think there is something to be said about independent publishing…I personally plan to look into it when I’m ready to publish my book.
